The SIPPS program helps teachers implement effective teaching strategies to meet the needs of all students, including English Language Learners. How does it support English language learners? Remote learning guidance is provided in the digital resources to support virtual instruction. The program can be taught in a synchronous, virtual learning environment. These materials include but are not limited to: a digital Teacher’s Manual with embedded professional development, links to electronic assessment support, and a web-based card app. Teacher-facing digital resources are available to support instruction. Is there a digital component? Can it be used virtually? The routines include modeling, teacher-student dialogue, group practice, and correction procedures for various kinds of errors. As instruction moves along the developmental continuum, new routines are introduced to support the mastery of a new skill. Yes, the SIPPS program uses a consistent set of instructional routines. I find them easier to erase than laminating sheets. I slip the trace, build and write sheets of papers into page protectors. I run the fluency sentences on paper, laminate, cut and put them on a ring. Included are sight word cards, practice with the sight words (writing the words, building the words, play dough mats, find and color the words, memory game, spin and graph a word with a spinner and a cube, build a sentence, fluency sentences as well as assessment sheets for the sight words as well as the fluency sentences. There are activities for home and school. With repetition and practice, your students should be successful with these words. I have included many hands-on activities and games as well as practice sheets in this packet. I hope this packet of activities help your students as much as it has helped mine to become successful readers! The teaching of sight words is a crucial part of a child’s success in reading. These activities are designed to go along with the SIPPS lessons 1-10 and help students with sight word and fluency practice.
